Welcome to the Carleton University Medlife Chapter! Starting this Society is something very near and dear to my heart. This past April I had the humbling experience of travelling to Lima, Peru. Over the course of 10 days we travelled to areas of Peru where healthcare, basic infrastructure and lifestyle needs were all but nonexistant. Univeristy students from across North America came together with one common goal, give what every human on earth should be afforded- the right to healthcare, education and a safe environment. We worked with general practitioners, dentists, paramedics, educators, OB/GYN, pharamists and other volunteers. While some may be saddened by what this environment might sound like I can assure you- it ignites a spirit and passion within you as the heart and love these individuals show in the face of such adversity makes you feel honored to even be blessed to be in their presence and allowed to help.

This opportunity changed my life and I want to help you experience the same. Please reach out with any questions you may have and ways you can join. We are actively fundraising now for our winter 2016 trip to Tanzania.

I will leave you with a quote from a man I hope even the youngest never forget.

"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that determines the significance of the life we lead." ~Nelson Mandela
